"I have lived in New Zealand since 1994 (after marrying a Kiwi) and am proud to call this my home. I hail from Ireland where I qualified with a Masters in Environmental Sciences from Trinity College, Dublin.  Playing a musical instrument provides me with a personal challenge, so give me a violin (and a Guinness) and I'm a  happy man."

 

 

I have more than 25 years experience in compliance, operations and quality management. I have worked as a Registered Lead Auditor in various sectors requiring to meet compliance such as laboratories, food manufacturing, wine making, forestry exports, fumigations and biosecurity.  I am a Registered On-Job Assessor and a Test Certifier for WorkSafe New Zealand for fumigation and timber preservation.

 

I have held positions as an Operations Manager and Quality Manager in both government and private sectors and worked for Tegel Foods, IANZ, Ministry of Primary Industries, Verification NZ Ltd and Independent Verification Services Ltd (Co-Founder).

 

I am focussed on delivering on-the-job competency assessments as a strategic input helping businesses manage risk for compliance, effectiveness and brand reputation as well as looking after personnel wellbeing.  I see the output of competency assessment as a means of showing the skills and knowledge gained by experience and training are applied in practice. On-the-job competency assessments are about fact finding, not fault finding.

I have travelled and worked in many parts of the globe and held positions  in recruitment, marketing and training and worked for The Lampen Group, The World Expo, Triumph Adler and Electrix.

 

I enjoy generating innovative ideas and always ask the hard questions to ensure no angle is left unturned.  My abilities to multi-task and keep a ‘cool head’ in crisis situations are some of my strengths, as is my ability to think through the potential outcomes of different strategies.

 

I believe people and their endeavours are the most valuable assets in a business and are incredibly important to its success. If the contributions of employees ultimately create a definitive company asset, then optimising productivity is paramount and this begins with placing employees with the right skills and abilities in the right jobs on the right teams at the right time.

 

I have worked in a number of management roles prior to starting 4c Assessment, including Director and founding Shareholder of a leading biosecurity services company, Independent Verification Services.
